Carly Moeller founded Chicago-based interior design firm Unpatterned on the principle that there’s no pattern, or singular approach to design or life. “Classic” doesn’t have to mean boring, color doesn’t have to be in your face or trendy, and every thrift store holds a treasure waiting to be unearthed.
Unpatterned’s work has been featured by HGTV Magazine, Dwell, Domino, Better Chicago and Apartment Therapy, and Carly has been a consultant for House Beautiful, Good Housekeeping, and NBC Better. Her clients have said she pushes them just outside their comfort zone in order to create a space they couldn’t have imagined on their own.

Our client works a high-power demanding job in the city and wanted her home to be an expression of her vibrant personality she doesn’t get to share regularly. She wanted a space that was whimsical, welcoming, and grounded in her values of shopping locally & sustainably.
Her love of nature is reflected in the patterns and colors chosen to fill the room, but also in the materials. The velvet on the bedding is made from 136 plastic bottles, and the ottomans, table decor, and lamp are all vintage pieces. The nightstand, artwork, and decor were all purchased from local shops and artists she has gotten to know through community events.

You spend a third of your life in bed. Make the other two-thirds count. And, count towards a good cause, Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation. Our Chicago showroom has chosen to partner with and support Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation from May 5th through May 31st, 2022.
What’s the connection?
Design, sleep, and health tie directly together. A study released by Cancer Research found that sleeping for several hours in nighttime darkness promotes a healthy blood level of a hormone called melatonin, which can significantly suppress the growth and proliferation of breast tumors.
Your bedroom should be a haven of rest, renewal, and rejuvenation. Design it to be so, and reap the rewards of a healthy life.
The Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation is one of the nation’s leading breast cancer research and education charities joining together Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation and Lynn Sage Foundation.
Since 1985, these organizations have raised over $40 million for breast cancer research and education advancements. Together we can do more.
Today, 75 passionate supporters on our board work to fulfill our mission: funding research and education to prevent breast cancer and improve outcomes for individuals with breast cancer. Investments are directed locally in Chicago, but drive impact globally. Learn More
